The gymnastics team are the district champions again this year. Jennah Chang took first place all around at the Commonwealth District Gymnastics with a score of 38.25.

“We are really stepping up our everyday workouts, and we have been doing full out routines on every event every day whereas prior to regionals we only worked specific skills,” said senior Rachel Petto. “We are focused on stamina and execution now!”

On bars Jennah Chang placed first with a score of 9.725, placed third on vault with a score of 9.325, placed first on beam with a score of 9.44 and placed second on floor with a score of 9.75.

“The team is so closely knit that we all motivate each other with the same goal in mind,” Chang said. “One person’s attitude can really impact the morale of the team, so if one person is ready to compete, the team reciprocate the positive energy.”

Laney Krejdovsky placed second on bars with a score of 8.875. Rachel Petto placed fifth with a score of 8.66 on beam. Keegan Habina placed 6th with a score of 9.225 on floor. Kayla Huebner placed sixth on vault with a score of 9.025.

“It was definitely a wake up call as to what we needed to work on, and for me placing on vault at any rate is a huge accomplishment for myself,” Huebner said. “I am proud to be able to give back to the team what they gave to me.”

The team also placed first at the Aloha Classic and the Winterfest quad-meet at Colonial Forge.

“Winterfest definitely was a good start to the new season,” senior Kaitlyn Carrick said. “Our scores will always motivate us to do better, even when we do our best we know we can do better. When we place first we always know there are areas we can improve for the next meet.”
